Research notes
Covers 30.4 square miles across 14 municipalities in Bergen and Hudson counties. Formerly administered by the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission (HMDC), then the NJ Meadowlands Commission (NJMC), now consolidated into the NJ Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) as of 2015. NJSEA holds exclusive zoning and subdivision jurisdiction within the District — municipal zoning does not apply. Federal conflict check: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Part 77 imaginary surfaces and FAA FAR Part 150 noise contours extend across much of the District.
