Quirks & watch-items
Quirks & watch-items
- AK Department of Labor enforces statewide but has very few inspectors outside Anchorage/Fairbanks/Juneau
- Local jurisdictions can adopt newer codes as "deferred jurisdictions"
- IRC and IECC are administered by AHFC and apply to state-financed residential construction; commercial/fire is governed by State Fire Marshal under 13 AAC 50
- April 2026 update: 13 AAC 50 was amended in 2022 to upgrade IBC/IFC from 2018 to 2021 editions; the prior MD entry showing "2018" was stale
