Research notes

Section 106 of the federal National Historic Preservation Act (54 U.S.C. §306108) runs in parallel for federally funded/licensed undertakings — DHPA acts as the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for §106 consultations. Indiana protects ALL archaeological sites with artifacts pre-12/31/1870 regardless of state/private ownership.
