Quirks & watch-items
Quirks & watch-items
- Rhode Island uses NFPA 1 (Fire Code), not IFC. Fire Safety Code Board (fsc.ri.gov) is separate from Building Code Standards Committee (bcc.ri.gov).
- Major code refresh effective 2025-12-01: IBC, IRC, IECC, NEC all updated together. Previous editions were 2018 IBC/IRC and 2018 IECC.
- 2024 IECC includes mandatory electric-ready Appendices CH (commercial) and RK (residential) effective 2025-08-14.
