Quirks & watch-items

Quirks & watch-items
  • Oregon calls its building code the "Oregon Structural Specialty Code" (OSSC) — NOT "IBC"
  • OSSC is based on IBC but with OR-specific amendments
  • Portland is the local administrator per ORS 455.148
  • 6-month phase-in periods between old and new codes
  • Oregon does NOT adopt IBC Chapters 32 and parts of 33 — Portland adopted these separately via local ordinance
  • Oregon uses UPC/UMC not IPC/IMC
