Quirks & watch-items
Quirks & watch-items
- Montana doesn't require permits for single-family homes in some areas
- Local jurisdictions have option to enforce — some may not
- Uses UPC (not IPC) for plumbing
- Two-agency split: DLI Building Codes Bureau (MCA 50-60-203) adopts IBC/IRC/IECC/IMC/IFGC/NEC/UPC under ARM 24.301; DOJ State Fire Marshal (MCA 50-3-102/103) adopts IFC separately under ARM 23.12.601. IFC is therefore statewide, but via a different agency than the rest of the building code stack.
