- Maine does NOT adopt the IFC. Fire/life-safety is set by the State Fire Marshal via NFPA 1 (2018, Fire Prevention Code per 16-219 OSFM Ch. 3) and NFPA 101 (2018 Life Safety Code per 16-219 OSFM Ch. 20).
- MUBEC mandatory enforcement applies only to municipalities with population > 4,000.
- BBCS rules (16-642) are migrating jurisdiction to the Maine Office of Community Affairs (MOCA).
- 2026 NEC adoption proposed; public hearing scheduled May 15, 2026.
