Research notes

444-mile scenic parkway connecting Nashville, TN, through Alabama, to Natchez, MS. ~310 miles of the route lie within Mississippi traversing Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Lee, Pontotoc, Chickasaw, Webster, Choctaw, Attala, Leake, Madison, Hinds, Rankin, Copiah, Claiborne, Jefferson, and Adams counties. NPS owns a 800–1000 ft right-of-way; adjacent land is private but commercial signage visible from the Parkway is restricted by local cooperative agreements. Tupelo (NPS headquarters), Ridgeland, Madison, Clinton, and Natchez have explicit parkway-adjacency overlay treatments under §17-1 authority. No commercial vehicles permitted on Parkway per 36 CFR §5.6.
