Research notes

Acadia NP boundary (Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Peninsula, Isle au Haut) is federal land; surrounding gateway communities (Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Winter Harbor) retain municipal zoning but coordinate with NPS via cooperative agreements. Tribal settlement lands have a unique state/federal/tribal jurisdictional split under MICSA — verify case-by-case. Wild & Scenic corridors include the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
