Research notes
Classic SZEA-derivative enabling statute. Applies to Lawrason Act / non-charter municipalities directly; §4 and §5 home-rule charters use it as a baseline that may be expanded by charter. Parallel parish/municipal planning authority lives in La. R.S. 33:101 et seq. Parish-level zoning authority is more fragmented and historically required enabling legislation or home-rule charter — many rural Louisiana parishes still have no comprehensive zoning.
