Planting Detail Configurator

You're specifying a tree on a planting plan. You pick a species and caliper — but the spec sheet doesn't show you the pit you just committed the contractor to dig. This configurator makes that commitment visible: select a tree type and size, and the section draws the root ball, pit depth, backfill volume, staking, and mulch ring at real proportions. Use it before you schedule a caliper so you know what's going underground.

Purpose: reveals the below-grade pit geometry that a tree size selection commits you to.

Next improvement: The likeliest next improvement is adding soil volume calculation — cubic yards of backfill and topsoil/peat mix per pit — so you can spec material quantities directly from the tree schedule.

Future: Irrigation Detail Configurator — drip ring layout, bubbler spacing, and valve sizing keyed to root ball diameter and soil type, from ASABE S526 and manufacturer flow tables.

Future: Tree Protection Zone Configurator — CRZ (critical root zone) radius, fencing setbacks, and grade change limits during construction, from ANSI A300 Part 5 and ISA Best Management Practices.
