Court Sport Configurator

You're designing a recreation center and the program says 'racquetball courts.' But the building envelope depends on which court type, and every sport has different ceiling heights, wall construction, and safety clearance zones outside the playing lines. This configurator draws each court type with its full clearance envelope so you can size the room — and the building — correctly from the start.

Purpose: shows how court count and spectator buffer drive the building shell — and why squash clubs pack tighter than racquetball facilities.

Racquetball and handball share the same 40 × 20 × 20-ft box. Squash is narrower (21 × 32 ft) and shorter (18'-6"). A four-court racquetball facility needs a 100 × 60-ft shell minimum. The same four courts in squash fit in 96 × 44 ft — 30% less floor area. Glass back walls add spectator value but the structural bay stays the same either way.

Next improvement: The likeliest next improvement is adding wall and floor construction specs — front wall impact rating, floor resilience, and acoustical isolation, from the governing sport federation technical guides.

Future: Swimming Pool Configurator — lane counts, lengths, deck widths, gutter types, and depth profiles for competition and recreational pools, from FINA and state health codes.

Future: Gymnasium Configurator — basketball, volleyball, and badminton court overlays with ceiling clearance, backboard placement, and divider curtain locations, from NCAA and NFHS rule books.
